Our Take: Best value proposition if you have a smaller RV or need backup cooling. The reliability record is strong-it just doesn't have the power for large-space primary cooling. Perfect for supplemental use or smaller rigs.

The Hard Truth
None of these are great long-term solutions for full-time desert RVing.
What we should have invested in: Fixed roof-mount AC with 240V capability ($2,500-4,000). Lasts 10+ years without leaks or compressor failure.
Real Recommendation by Situation
Boondocking (no 240V): Use Whynter or Frigidaire as backup, not primary
RV Parks (240V available): Neither Midea nor standard portables work well
Full-time desert living: Invest in permanent roof AC
